Title 1 Parents,
Thank you for attending the Title 1 parent meeting and conferences! You are the most important person in your child's life!
If you would like more ideas on how you can help your child in the area of reading, please contact me at school. Together we can make a great team!
Kindergarten
In Title 1 we have reviewed the following letters and sounds: Mm, Pp, Ff, Cc,Tt, Aa, Ss, Dd, Ii, Nn, Gg, Ll. For the month of November we will work on letters and sounds Oo, Bb, Rr, Vv, Hh. In December we hope to work on the letters and sounds Ee, Jj, Zz, Ww, Uu, Kk. At home you could help the students by reviewing these letters and sounds and then help them practice writing the letters.
First Grade
In Title 1 we have been practicing short a and short i. After Thanksgiving we will review short u and short o. At home you could help the students by reading and writing words and phrases which contain these sounds. You can also practice making 3 letter words with the short vowel sound in the middle.
Please continue to practice sight words. Sight words are posted on the left side of our specials website. In Title 1, we also review the words from the previous year, as the students will use those words in their reading in the classroom. Ask your child about his/her sight word ring in the Title 1 classroom, and watch for the progress on the reward charts! Great things are happening in Title 1!!!
Second Grade
In Title 1 we reviewed long and short vowel sounds, and blends. We also went over any skills the students struggled with on their unit 1 classroom test. We are practicing many different vowel patterns such as ai, ay and igh. After Thanksgiving we will continue learning new vowel patterns. At home you can help the studnts by reading with them and talking about what was in the story.
