National Geography Bee

Wednesday, December 12, 2007 the Liberty-Benton Local School held their school competition for the National Geography Bee.

Students in grades 4-8 were eligible to compete in this contest and the first round of knowledge testing came last Friday, Dec. 7.  Twenty - eight students advanced to the next round which was held Dec. 12 .

Mr. Bruce Otley, the Middle School principal was the moderator and read the questions to the students.  Selecting a number, the students lined up around the cafeteria and answered questions the corresponded to their respective number.

Ten finalists were determined and they include: Rob Rucki, Rhett Schroeder, Kaleb Berger, Larry Lauger, Josie Smith, Marisa Burkett, Adam August, Brian Dailey, Alyssa Gary and Mitchell Haan.

3rd place was earned by Rhett Schroeder

2nd place was Rob Rucki

and 1st place winner was Adam August, a fifth grader in the LB Elementary.

The remainding students who made it into the Dec. 12 round included:

Anna Mars, Brian Miller, Kyle Bell, Megan Dailey, Lisa Musselman, Megan Peplinski, Chase Cook, Dillon Burkett, Brad Hoehne, Brooke Hoehne, Griffin Rath, Logan Whitaker, Innocence Krochmalny, Derek Gupta, Kenzi Young, Mitch Yake, Jorden Wright, and Cory Morgan.
